Keyword Research with 11 Research Tools!

Keyword research is the main pillar of SEO. Think about it, if no one searches for what you write, will you get any visitors from Google search? This is why you need to know how to do keyword research properly to be successful in SEO. Many people work with wrong keywords. This wastes both time and resources. But the result is zero.

I think I’m scaring you. I have no desire to scare you. To be honest, keyword research is not rocket science. In today’s post I will discuss in detail what your keywords are and how to do keyword research. Before learning about keyword research, you need to know what keywords are?

What are keywords?

A keyword is an idea or topic that indicates the content of your writing. In terms of SEO, a keyword is a word or phrase that searchers enter into a search engine. These are sometimes called “search queries”. Keywords can be one word or multiple words. Multiple word keywords are called “Keyphrases” to better understand the matter by giving an example. “SEO”, “SEO Tips” are only two keywords here. The first is Targeted Keywords and the second is Keyphrases.

What is keyword research?

Research is the study of a subject. Keyword research is a lot like research. Finding a keyword for the article you are writing will help you get organic visitors from search engines. If your article does not appear in the search engine, then it is useless to write the article. So keyword research is important before writing articles. One of the first and foremost tasks of SEO is keyword research. Think about how you would feel if your writing did not reach the people you are writing articles for? You will surely suffer.

Those who are successful bloggers are not only successful by writing articles but also by doing good SEO and keyword research. By doing this they are able to reach their target audience.

Why is keyword research important?

As mentioned earlier, keyword research is the lifeblood of SEO. No matter how well you write, if you do not do keyword research, you will not get the desired visitors from that writing. No traffic means you can’t make good money from your blog. So give importance to keyword research before writing the article. Suppose you go to a job interview. You dressed very smartly but forgot to ink your shirt. Then your tidiness is futile. Article writing is much like this without keyword research.

Let’s get to the point. Why do keyword research? Why are you blogging? Isn’t it for making money? Blogs need visitors to earn income. Two popular means of bringing in visitors today are:

  • from search engines. This is called organic traffic.
  • advertisement This is called paid traffic.

You need to spend money to drive traffic through advertising. And to get organic traffic you need to do SEO. Meaning keyword research should be done. So you understand that if you can do keyword research properly then you can easily get organic visitors from search engines. Now you can ask, if you write SEO Friendly Article, the article will be ranked in Google.

I believe your article is ranked in google. But then you are not getting organic traffic from that article. This is because the search volume for the topic you wrote the article on is very low. So despite the article ranking well, you are not getting much traffic from search engines. This mistake would not have happened if you had done a little keyword research before writing the article. Doing keyword research will increase your blog’s search ranking. Getting organic traffic will be easy for you.

How to do keyword research

Let’s say in advance that keyword research is not rocket science. Many people think of something very difficult when they hear its name. Many people interpret keyword research in many ways. But today I will explain to you in the simplest way how to get organic traffic by doing keyword research. Keyword research is a simple process. But to do it well you need to know two things. Idea about the niche or topic you are writing articles about. How to use keyword research tools. I will teach keyword research in four steps:

#01. Selecting key keywords

The first step in your keyword research is to select the main keywords. These are called seed keywords. You need to choose keywords that match the article you are writing or the niche of your site. Remember that even if the keyword is short, it represents your entire content and helps to find other keywords related to the keyword. Choose keywords based on what people type into Google to find the topic you’re writing articles about. For example, let’s say you’re writing articles about SEO. Then possible keywords could be:

  • SEO
  • SEO search optimization
  • SEO TIPS
  • Guide SEO

These keywords alone are not enough to rank your website. Because the article you are writing may have already been written by many people and is ranking well. So you need to do some more research.

#02. Competitor Analysis

Find out which sites are getting traffic from search engines with the keywords you are writing articles for. This is Competitor Analysis. List what keywords competitors rank for. You can find competitors very easily. First, do a Google search with the keyword and take a good look at the posts of the sites that are on the first page. Find out what topics they covered in the post and what topics weren’t discussed. You write posts like them.

#03. Search volume

Search volume means total number of times a specific keyword is searched per month or week. In the image below you can see that the keyword “Keyword Research” has been searched 48,400 times globally. Searched 9,900 times in the USA alone. You can find out the search volume of any keyword using keyword research tools. Search volume is important for SEO because writing good articles is worthless if you don’t get organic traffic. There are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to search volume.

If your site is new then never go to work with keywords that have more than 10,000 searches because such keywords have high competition.

Low search volume keywords are good for new sites. Moreover, if you want to work with high volume keywords, then you can work with long-tail keywords.

I have seen from our experience that many people write posts with keywords that have very low search volume. As a result, despite writing good posts, you don’t get organic traffic. So my suggestion would be that if the search volume is less than 500 then it is better not to select that keyword.

#04 Keyword Difficulty

The mistake that most bloggers or content writers make is writing posts without checking keyword difficulty. An important part of keyword research is prioritizing keyword difficulty. Many people may think that keyword difficulty is discouraging you from working on your preferred keywords. Actually there is no reason to think so. Because Keyword Difficulty only tells you what it takes to rank for a keyword. No task is difficult. Everything is possible if you try. Site ranking depends on many things. For example:

  • Domain Authority
  • Page Authority
  • High quality backlinks
  • Social Linking
  • Domain rating
